spring(ing) mind
It is probably only half coincidental that this newsletter has been sent out at significant points in the cycle of the year (winter solstice, imbloc/st brigid’s, spring equinox).
I always find the cycle of the year a useful aid for reflection. Cycles of all kinds really. From the cycle of ecosystems, planets and life-spans to the wheel of the year, the cycle of the moons, the menstrual cycle, the cycle of a day, the cycle of one inhale and one exhale.
There is something appealing, for me, about knowing that there is always another moment to begin again, another moment to let go.
So, here is Spring!
Right now I’m feeling the spring energy, my mind wants to travel everywhere. In that spirit, here are some interesting places I’ve found moments of reflection:
For listening:
On being present and healing and not being ‘totally healed’ as helpers and leaders.
Tamu Thomas also has a Substack
For doing:
For all those jaw-clenchers, here’s a lovely gentle* practice to try from Hearts and Bones Yoga
*but also, gentle is relative! So take care if you try it and check how it feels for you.
For reading:
Bo Forbes is writing a wonderful Substack series on embodiment and this post on interoception or, as she puts it, “inner perception” super interesting for those who want to learn more about what it means to feel our insides (spoiler alert: it means a whole lot!).
For getting away from screens:
My favourite mindfulness practice at the moment is a walking one. On even the most familiar route, I’m looking out for the new buds and blossoms that change every day.
I promise I put my phone away after I took this….
